Getting to know Edwina Lyall, Senior Account Manager

Meet Senior Account Manager Edwina Lyall, based in Sydney. With over 20 years in the insurance industry, Edwina is committed to helping clients protect what matters most. Known for genuine care for clients, Edwina works closely with specialty insurers to provide tailored insurance solutions and trusted advice.

1. How did you find your way into the insurance broking world?

Working as an underwriter in a niche product, I realised I was meeting only a fragment of the business’ insurance needs. I wanted to help with the whole picture.

2. What were you doing before you joined the insurance industry, and what skills were you able to bring with you?

I got a Bachelor of Arts in English, trained to be an archivist, and then went travelling for a few years. Structuring an argument and organising information have proved useful, travelling gave me a sense of adventure.

3. How would you describe what you do for your clients in one sentence?

Learn about their business and preferences for managing risk, design a robust insurance program, and then introduce additional resources and services to support further risk transfer – always with client’s interests front of mind and hopefully while being approachable, practical, and clear.

4. What types of clients or industries do you typically work with?

I work with clients from a range of industries, mid-market and corporate, a focus on construction.

5. What’s one client story or experience that’s really stayed with you?
Supporting a client through a high value claim, arguing in cover and seeing their insurance policy respond to the fullest extent, as it always should.

7. What do you value most about the way we work or support our clients?
That we look beyond insurance and tap into so many different resources and services provided by different parts of Network, by Steadfast, insurers, etc. to support our clients. Each client also has a service team with a wealth of knowledge, plus a specialist team for claims. Even the structure of the team itself is tailored to our clients’ own preferences.

8. What’s the most rewarding part of your role?
There are so many aspects, but I particularly enjoy helping clients to understand their insurance program, the strengths and weaknesses of different options, and to find new ways to mitigate risk. It’s very rewarding to secure a good outcome for a client. And it’s fun to work with these clever and thoughtful people, who care about what they do – clients and colleagues alike.
