Getting to know Jenni Jones, General Manager (Tas)

Meet Jenni Jones , General Manager Tasmania, based in Launceston. With 39 years in the insurance industry, Jenni is passionate about helping clients protect what matters most. Known for developing a strong understanding of her clients’ needs, Jenni works closely with all her clients to provide tailored insurance solutions and trusted advice.

1. How did you find your way into the insurance broking world?

As with many people in this industry, I ended up in insurance broking by accident, with what I thought would be a simple gap year after finishing college, has now become a 39 year career.

2. What were you doing before you joined the insurance industry, and what skills were you able to bring with you?

Before joining the insurance industry, I had finished year 12, young and naïve.  Everything I know today has been learned on the job and alongside wonderful people, 11 years in general insurance and the past 28 years as a broker, gaining experience and skills along the way.

3. How would you describe what you do for your clients in one sentence?

I help my clients understand the “why” behind every recommendation so that they can feel confident that their insurance program fully aligns with their needs.

4. What types of clients or industries do you typically work with?

My client base is quite broad in Tasmania, spanning from agricultural business through to larger commercial operations and a wide range of industries in between.

5. What’s one client story or experience that’s really stayed with you?

A number of years ago, during a client review meeting, we were going through the sums insured on the farm buildings and domestic properties.  It was clear that one of the buildings was significantly underinsured.  After discussing potential risk exposure, the client agreed to increase the cover.  Just a couple of months later, that same building was unfortunately destroyed in an electrical fire.  The client was incredibly grateful, not only for the initial conversation that ensured they were properly protected, but also for the support provided throughout the entire claims process.

6. What makes NIH Tasmania different?

We stand out because we combine local expertise with a genuine commitment to looking after our clients, offering tailored advice and hands on support whenever it is needed.  We are deeply connected to the Tasmanian community and that local insight means our clients receive advice that is grounded in real understanding and not generic one size fits all.

7. What do you value most about the way we work or support our clients?

I value our strong local presence, long standing client relationships and the ability to deliver personalised insurance solutions backed by real industry knowledge and a deep understanding of the challenges unique to Tasmania.

8. What’s the most rewarding part of your role?
The greatest reward is building long term relationships, with both our clients and our team.  Seeing the trust and confidence that develops over time as a result of the work we do together, and some most wonderful lifelong friendships made.

9. When you’re not at work, where can we find you?

When I am not at work, you will generally find me spending time with family and friends or exploring new places ideally somewhere with lots of sunshine and beautiful beaches.
