Getting to know Shiralee McIntyre, Team Leader
Meet Team Leader Shiralee McIntyre, based in Tuggerah NSW. With over 30 years in the insurance industry, Shiralee is passionate about helping clients protect what matters most. Known for her genuine care for clients, Shiralee always aims to understand their needs and deliver the best possible outcomes. Shiralee works closely with a collaborative team and supportive insurers to provide tailored insurance solutions and trusted advice to businesses and clients.
1. How did you find your way into the insurance broking world?
After finishing Year 12, I went on to complete a 12-month secretarial course at business college, unsure at the time where my career would lead. Soon after, I applied for my first role as a policy typist with Zurich in 1986. I was successful in securing the position, and that opportunity became my introduction to the insurance world – sparking a long and rewarding career that has continued to evolve ever since.
2. What were you doing before you joined the insurance industry, and what skills were you able to bring with you?
Before entering the insurance industry, I was still very much finding my feet in the workforce. While I didn’t have extensive experience or specialised skills at that stage, I brought with me a strong willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and the motivation to build a meaningful career. Those foundations helped me quickly adapt to the industry and grow into the roles and responsibilities that followed.
3. How would you describe what you do for your clients in one sentence?
I work closely with my clients to protect what matters most to them and provide support whenever they need it.
4. What types of clients or industries do you typically work with?
I work with a wide range of clients across many industries, including tradies, property owners, retail and wholesale businesses, marketing and manufacturing sectors, as well as all types of householders, landlords, and motor vehicle owners.
5. What’s one client story or experience that’s really stayed with you?
One client experience that has really stayed with me involved a client who had experienced a run of bad luck with claims over a 20-year period, to the point where their insurer was not willing to offer renewal. I had exhausted the usual market options, but one day before their policy was due to expire, I was able to secure cover for them through a new insurer. It took a lot of negotiation and collaboration with the insurer to make it happen, but seeing the client’s relief and gratitude made all the effort worthwhile. I was genuinely happy to be able to get their cover in place and provide them with peace of mind.

What I value most is our client focused approach and the level of support we provide at every step. I appreciate that we combine professionalism with a personal touch, ensuring clients feel supported, informed, and confident in their insurance decisions.
8. What’s the most rewarding part of your role?
The most rewarding part of my role is working with a great team, doing what I love every day, and knowing that the work I do truly makes a difference for our clients, helping them feel protected and supported when they need it most.
9. When you’re not at work, where can we find you?
When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me ticking off my bucket list—traveling the world, spending quality time with my grandchildren, and enjoying life with family and friends. I love making the most of every moment and creating memories that last.
